Meet our 2019-2020 Staff!


Chelsea Shelton

Owner/Artistic Director/Teacher/Choreographer

Chelsea Shelton has been dancing for 23 years and has been trained in Ballet,Jazz,Tap,Modern,Lyrical,Pointe,Flamenco and Contemporary styles. After graduating high school she auditioned and was accepted into a dance program called “Remnant” under the direction of Derek and Cami Capps located in Tampa, Florida. In this 10 month training program she had daily training in Jazz and Modern styles had many teaching opportunities, administrative training, and many performance opportunities within the city of Tampa as well as abroad including a dance missions trip to the Philippines. Chelsea was also accepted into Ingredients Dance Training Company in Dallas, Texas under the direction of Michelle Brogan. In this company she trained daily in Ballet,Jazz,Modern,and Contemporary. She had many performance opportunities in the metropolis of Dallas as well as traveling on a nationwide tour with Christian dance convention Dance Revolution. Since, Chelsea has trained and traveled abroad, she has been teaching locally and choreographing; including her time as a teacher and choreographer within the Modern Class at Hagerstown Community College. She also has been the director of Gateway Ministries Church dance ministry called 3rd Day Anointing which she has lead, choreographed and taught for 11 years. Chelsea has started her own Christian dance company called Neshema Dance Company the Fall of 2010 Neshema is a professional dance company that is in it's 8th year of operation. Neshema provides dancers that long to take their dance to a new level a place to grow closer to God through their dance and challenges them to be everything God has called them to be! In addition to being the company director of Neshema Dance Co, Chelsea is also the owner of a Christian dance studio Bloom Dance Studio in Hagerstown,Md. Bloom Dance Studio is one of a kind being one of the only Christian dance studios in the Hagerstown,MD area. Bloom has been established since 2011 and offers Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip-hop, Tap, Modern and Pointe from ages 3-up. Bloom and Neshema are growing and Chelsea purchased a permanent home for both of these organizations in 2013. Chelsea has also hosted and directed many Summer and Winter intensives over the years at Gateway Ministries Church and at Bloom Dance Studio. Re-kre'at Dance Intensive was birthed from the ideas of these Summer dance intensives and the hope for Re-kre'at is that it would grow and travel to offer these Christian dance intensives to the North East! Chelsea is a Christian artist who believes in reaching out to this world through the captivating form of the arts. As she receives creativity and unparalleled inspiration from the Author of dance she continues to strive and move forward to bloom where she has been planted.


Laurel Hellane


Laurel Hellane has been dancing since the age of 3 and is trained in Tap, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary, Musical theater and Jazz . She grew up dancing at Mar-le-nie Dance Studio in Chambersburg, PA and other various dance studios locally. At Mar-le-nie , she had the opportunity to take workshops from many Professional dancers and choreographers from Broadway. After graduating High-school Laurel auditioned and was accepted as a company member in the professional Christian dance company, Neshema Dance Company, under the direction of Chelsea Shelton. In addition to weekly technique classes and rehearsals, through Neshema, Laurel had the amazing experience of attending dance conventions in both North Carolina and New York City. As being a member of Neshema Dance Co, Laurel had many teaching opportunities and performance opportunities around this tri-state area.  Being a part of Neshema helped her grow not only as a dancer, but also as a worshiper, and Jesus follower. Laurel has continued her dance training at Hagerstown Community College through pursuing her major in Dance, dancing in 2 seasons of the HCC dance company and training under her college professor Karen Carpenter, who danced for the Joffrey Ballet, in both Ballet and Pointe. Laurel has been a teacher for Bloom Dance Studio and Re-kre'at Dance Intensive for 3 years. Along with dancing, Laurel also has a passion for traveling the world, being with ones she loves, painting, singing, and LAUGHING! Laurel is also a liscenced massage therapist and owns her own business "Five Senses Massage Therapy" in Greencastle, Pa.  “One thing that I love about dancing is the reactions that people have when they see a dance. I don’t just want to make people smile or clap, I want to share my passion for Jesus. I want to be able to change people for the better, and show them the light in the world through dance.” Laurel is excited to share her passion with her students at Bloom Dance Studio, and help them grow as Jesus followers, worshipers, and dancers!

Brook Chapline

Teacher/Choreographer/Director of BDP

Brook Chapline took ballet lessons at Laurel Valley Dance Studio and Chambersburg Ballet Theatre School before teaching Ballet at Bloom Dance Studio for two and a half years. She is a senior at Clarks Summit University and hopes to use her degree to create a discipleship ministry for young women. Brook is excited to teach at Bloom because she enjoys working with small children and older dancers  by introducing them to dance as something fun that they can begin to develop a passion for.


Shannon Hess


Shannon started dancing at age of 11. She trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip hop at The Debra A. Lewis Dance Studio in Emmitsburg MD, where she later taught classes in all styles. She was quickly invited into the competition group which allowed her to participate in numerous competitions in many cities, including summer intensives in New York City. While in high school Shannon was a member of the cheerleading squad and drama club. She choreographed and participated in performances of Pippin, Grease, West Side Story and Godspell.  Shannon’s son, who is in the Army and lives in Texas, and her daughter both followed in her footsteps dancing and teaching young dancers.  The Elower Sicilia Productions studio in Thurmont MD is where Shannon has taught and coached the “Opening Act” competition team for several years.  Besides dance Shannon loves to run and is an active member of her church and has enjoyed serving on missions’ trips in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic as well as locally.  Dance and The Lord have always been a very important part of her life and to have them come together at Bloom is an amazing part of God’s plan.  Her goal at BDS is to extend her spiritual gift of teaching.  She is excited to share her dance knowledge and hopes to develop the individual needs and talent of each dancer.  Let’s have fun, share and inspire each other!

Haley Peck


I have been dancing since the age of 6. I have grown up at Miss Dicey's School of Dance located in

Mercersburg, PA. I have been dancing at Miss Dicey's School of Dance for 11 years. I have been

trained in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Modern, Acro, and Hip-hop. I have had the opportunity to join a

competitive dance team that travels to multiple places. Not only have I gotten to compete at various

competitions but I have had the opportunity to be trained in workshops by celebrity dancers. I have been

an assistant instructor at Miss Dicey's for 6 years. I have taught ages 2 through 13. I have always had a

passion for dancing; along with wanting to dance for the Lord. My goal at Bloom is to help every child I

teach blossom into an artist. I want each and every child to know their worth and that they are beyond

loved in God's eyes.

Dominique Burford

Intro to Dance and Mommy and Me Teacher

My name is Dominique Burford I am 27 years old and have been working with children for about 10 years now. I had in home daycare for a few years for ages newborn to seven and taught at daycares/learning centers in the past. I’m currently studying Early Childhood Education and teaching Preschool at Celebree School. I have also been in a dance ministry for 10 years and taught in dance camps for children for over 5 years for churches and the YMCA program. I absolutely love working with children and love dancing. I’m excited to introduce dance to children so that they can learn dance techniques while learning how their bodies work. I want them to have fun, try new things, and know they can achieve a goal with practice! I know I will also learn from each child because children teach us as well! I look forward to meeting your little one soon!
